Barnardo’s is committed to providing ‘Better Outcomes for More Children’. Our children’s services volunteers help the charity to deliver essential services in local communities, providing support to over 300,000 children, young people and their families. This role provides a great opportunity to join our fantastic children’s services and help make a real difference.

Children’s Activity Support volunteers work across a range of groups, from Children’s Centre’s with pre-school children and Short Breaks services for children with disabilities, to Mental Health Support Groups and Young Carers Groups.

We are looking for volunteers to help run our breastfeeding groups in South Gloucestershire. The groups are in Cadbury Heath (Monday 10:30-12), Staple Hill (Monday 12:30-2), Yate (Tuesday 11:30-1), Thornbury (Tuesday 1-2:30), Patchway (Wednesday 1-2:30) and Hanham (Thursday 11-12:30). Volunteers will offer valued support to existing Peer Support volunteers and Group Coordinators. As a volunteer you will welcome parents and carers to one of the groups, help them settle in and make refreshments. You will support the breastfeeding support team to take some information from families who attend as well as assist with setting up and clearing the room. Your contribution will be invaluable in creating a supportive and nurturing environment for new mothers and carers. The time commitment is approx 2 hours at least fortnightly.

We are looking for volunteers, with a passion for making a difference in children’s lives, a fun and approachable attitude and an ability to engage young people in worthwhile and enjoyable activities.
