Children's Activity Support - Group Helper (Supporting 10-25 year olds in a cooking club session in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent)

Barnardo’s is committed to providing ‘Better Outcomes for More Children’. Our children’s services volunteers help the charity to deliver essential services in local communities, providing support to over 300,000 children, young people and their families. This role provides a great opportunity to join our fantastic children’s services and help make a real difference.

Children’s Activity Support volunteers work across a range of groups, from Children’s Centre’s with pre-school children and Short Breaks services for children with disabilities, to Mental Health Support Groups and Young Carers Groups.

We are looking for volunteers, with a passion for making a difference in children’s lives, a fun and approachable attitude and an ability to engage young people in worthwhile and enjoyable activities.

Volunteer to help empower young people in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent. Burslem Youth Connect is an exciting new service for young people age 10-25 that has been designed by local young people for local young people, and is part of Barnardo’s partnership with the Co-op. The partnership has three key aims:

  • Improve young people’s mental wellbeing.
  • Improve access to basic needs (food).
  • Improve access to opportunities.

We’re looking for enthusiastic volunteers who can help support local youth in a fun, dynamic, and positive environment. Do you want to contribute to positive futures for local young people in the Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent area? Do you have a passion for sharing your cooking skill and supporting others in learning to cook and accessing food? We'd love for you to join us to support the wellbeing, confidence, and development of young people through Burslem Youth Connect.

What we do: Monthly cooking sessions to support young people's access to basic needs such as food. We cook something new every month, and teach young people to cook on a budget with minimal ingredients, as well and teaching new practical life skills!

Support is needed monthly on a Saturday afternoon between 1-3 pm.
