Children's Activity Support - Group Helper (Wythenshawe, Supporting young people with Learning Disabilities and/or Autism)

Our children’s services volunteers help the charity to deliver essential services in local communities, providing support to over 300,000 children, young people and their families. This role provides a great opportunity to join our fantastic children’s services and help make a real difference.

Children’s Activity Support volunteers work across a range of groups, from Children’s Centre’s with pre-school children and Short Breaks services for children with disabilities, to Mental Health Support Groups and Young Carers Groups.

Lyndene House is a 6 bedroomed property in Wythenshawe refurbished to the highest standard designed to meet the individual needs of children and young people with LDA and their families.

The service is designed to: support children/young people experience permanence through stable home, care placements and consistency of relationships; reduce family breakdown; offer short term residential support through the short breaks provision; provide regular group activities with children/young people increasing opportunities to socialise and develop their independence skills, and support parent/carers to connect and have opportunities to share and learn from and with each other through formal and informal learning opportunities

We are looking for volunteers, with a passion for making a difference to young people’s lives, a fun and approachable attitude and an ability to engage young people with learning disabilities and/or autism in worthwhile and enjoyable activities. This role may involve a level of personal care.
