Children's Activity Support - Group Helper (supporting LGBTQ young people, Calderdale)

Opportunity image

Barnardo’s is committed to providing ‘Better Outcomes for More Children’. Our children’s services volunteers help the charity to deliver essential services in local communities, providing support to over 300,000 children, young people and their families. This role provides a great opportunity to join our fantastic children’s services and help make a real difference.

Children’s Activity Support volunteers work across a range of groups, from Children’s Centre’s with pre-school children and Short Breaks services for children with disabilities, to Mental Health Support Groups and Young Carers Groups.

Calderdale Identity Youth Group offers LGBTQ young people aged 12-18 a safe space to meet with peers and be part of a range of social activities. There are two groups run on weekly basis, one in the centre of Halifax on Wednesdays, and the other in Todmorden on Thursdays, with both groups running 5-6.30pm.

Both groups are run by a trained member of Barnardo's staff. However, we require additional volunteer support for these groups, to keep them running and to best provide the support these young people need and deserve. If you can offer a commitment for coming to support on a regular weekly basis or on a more adhoc arrangement, we would love to hear from you.

We are looking for volunteers, with a passion for making a difference in children’s lives, a fun and approachable attitude and an ability to engage young people in worthwhile and enjoyable activities.
