Opportunity image

Barnardo’s is committed to providing ‘Better Outcomes for More Children’. Our children’s services volunteers help the charity to deliver essential services in local communities, providing support to over 300,000 children, young people and their families. This role provides a great opportunity to join our fantastic children’s services and help make a real difference.

Barnardo’s Office Support Volunteers support a range of children’s services, such as Care Leavers, Advocacy and Mental Health support services, as well as back office support, providing administrative and reception support. Completing general admin duties, alongside booking rooms, ensuring notice boards are up to date and recording service user information, our Office Support Volunteers keep our services running efficiently.

We are looking for organised people, with basic admin skills. As a good communicator, you will be friendly and approachable and able to communicate with professionals from a range of backgrounds.

The opportunity we add to Vol1 will include the standard text in the role profile to give the volunteer an idea of what they will be doing in the role – this cannot be amended. If you would like us to add any specific service/role information in the advert (additional to what is written in the role profile), please include the information below. This might include service information, additional role specific details, specific groups the volunteer will be supporting and age ranges. We are a versatile community hub with a 4 storey soft play, space for role play and art activities, wonderful outside space, café, shop and extensive community space for hire. We’ve been closed during the last year because of the public health crisis. Currently we are redesigning the services in preparation to reopen the building. Our aim is to develop the Triangle Soft Play into a Barnardo’s Wellbeing Hub in South London. A place where local families would turn to for support while facing life challenges. Our stay and play sessions have registered 5000 families and provide a fun, secure space for parents to meet and children to have fun. We run birthday parties from the building. We open 7 days a week.

We are looking for a team of volunteers to cover our reception 7 days a week. The key responsibilities of the role are:

  1. Reception duties and point of call for queries and support
  2. Take payments
  3. Room and Play area preparation, set up
  4. First Aid
  5. Provide cover for birthday parties and training room bookings
