Barnardo’s is committed to providing ‘Better Outcomes for More Children’. Our children’s services volunteers help the charity to deliver essential services in local communities, providing support to over 300,000 children, young people and their families. This role provides a great opportunity to join our fantastic children’s services and help make a real difference.

Family Support volunteers run parent support groups and on occasion offering one to one support to families around parenting strategies and coping mechanisms.

**Solihull Parenting Strategy – ** “Parenting is the biggest single factor affecting children’s wellbeing and development” - Public Health England and the Local Government Association, 2016. The parenting offer in Solihull is universal, underpinned by principles of primary prevention and enabling peer support between parents and carers in our communities.

We are seeking volunteers to be part of an ‘Empowering Parents Empowering Communities’ Programme. Volunteer Parent Group Leaders are parents themselves who would then be trained to deliver the ‘Being a Parent’ Course. The training takes place once a week from 9.30 til 2.30 for 10 weeks.

A requirement of the programme is that all Parent Group Leaders are themselves parents too.

We are looking for volunteers, with a passion for making a difference in people’s lives, a fun and approachable attitude and an ability to engage parents and carers in worthwhile and enjoyable activities, supporting them to achieve their goals.
