Children's Activity Support - Group Helper (Gilnahirk)
Barnardo’s is committed to providing ‘Better Outcomes for More Children’. Our children’s services volunteers help the charity to deliver essential services in local communities, providing support to over 300,000 children, young people and their families. This role provides a great opportunity to join our fantastic children’s services and help make a real difference.
Often disabled children are excluded from attending local activities as the disabled child’s specific needs cannot be accommodated. This can lead to social exclusion for both the disabled child and their siblings. Barnardo’s Play for All Saturday clubs were created to provide disabled children between the ages of 5 and 12 years of age with the opportunity to participate in play and leisure activities in their local area. Each child can bring along a non-disabled sibling to enjoy and benefit from the activities on offer
Children’s Activity Support volunteers support our Saturday group at Gilnahirk from 10.30am until 1.30pm. Volunteers may need to provide some personal care in addition to the activities detailed in the role description.
We are looking for volunteers, with a passion for making a difference in children’s lives, a fun and approachable attitude and an ability to engage young people in worthwhile and enjoyable activities. We would ideally like volunteer to make a commitment for a year, in order to build positive relationships with the children and siblings attending groups.
