About our service

Bloom project supports care-experienced young people aged 17-25 across Swansea and Neath Port Talbot to improve their wellbeing, discover new interests and build brighter futures. Through exciting activities, new opportunities and personalised support, we help young people build confidence, find their voice and realise their potential.

How you'll make a difference

As a Community Development Volunteer, you will act as an ambassador for the Bloom Project, helping to build positive relationships within the local community, raise awareness of the service and identify opportunities that benefit the young people we support. This role is particularly suited to someone who is self-motivated, resilient and able to make a regular commitment, as developing community connections and partnerships often takes time and persistence.

What you'll be doing:

  • Contacting community partners by phone, email and online channels to identify opportunities and build relationships.
  • Networking with local businesses, community groups and other organisations.
  • Attending community and promotional events on behalf of the project.
  • Supporting promotional activities, including leafleting and information sharing.
  • Creating content for social media to promote the project and celebrate the achievements of young people.
  • Contributing stories, updates and achievements to our quarterly newsletter.

What you'll get

In return, volunteers will develop skills in communication, networking, community engagement and digital promotion, gain valuable experience and become part of a friendly and supportive team while making a meaningful difference to young people's lives. Approved volunteer expenses will be reimbursed.

What we're looking for

We are looking for volunteers who are enthusiastic, organised and passionate about supporting young people. You will be confident communicating with others, proactive in seeking opportunities and comfortable building relationships within the community.

Previous experience in networking, communications, marketing, fundraising, social media or community engagement is welcome but not essential.

We welcome applications from people with a few hours to spare, although regular weekday availability is particularly helpful. A driving licence and access to a vehicle would be advantageous but are not essential. Approved volunteer expenses will be reimbursed.
